Adult Rehabilitation is often required after some form of physical, mental and/or emotional trauma. This can be after a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury), aCVA(Cerebella Vascular Stroke) or after a Post Traumatic Stress experience. Occupational Therapy also helps people with degenerative conditions such as Parkinson’s, Dementia as well as psychiatric conditions.
The Occupational Therapist works together with the person and their support system to identify what motivates them; in terms of work, family life, recreation and daily function.
Assessment is a collaborative process and includes the therapist, the client as well as the family and the support structures. There is hopefully no passive recipient. Improvement and recovery are directly related to the effort of the individual and their support systems.
