Shona has been working in Private Practice in South Africa for more than twenty years. She is a mother of two adult children with a menagerie of cats and dogs. Shona enjoys gardening, being in nature, yoga, drawing and having a great cup of strong tea. She also works as part of a team in a small addiction clinic in Cape Town part time.
Shona and her husband have settled in a small coastal town of Simonstown.
Shona enjoys her work as an Occupational Therapist and is passionate about helping people reach their full potential in their lives. This can involve emotional awareness and regulation, cognitive rehabilitation, optimal function, individually and within their family systems.
Shona is a registered member of the Health Professions Council of South Africa, Occupational Therapy Association of South Africa, Western Cape Private Practitioners Group, Psychiatric Occupational Therapists Journal Club, SA Neuropsychological Association and the Health and Care Professions Council of the United Kingdom.
Shona has studied numerous modalities which she utilises in her personal life and in work. Some of these are Sandplay work, Educational Kinesiology, Body Talk, Dorn Method, Yoga, Aromatherapy, Neuro Art Facilitation, Sensory Integration (SI), Consciousness Coaching, Ageless Grace and breathwork. She is currently a Mari Practioner (Mandala Assessment Research Instrument) - http://www.mari-sa.co.za and is a Sensory Intelligence practitioner.
Recent books of inspiration include Bessel van de Kolk's The Body Holds the Score and Stanley Rosenberg's Accessing the Healing Power of the Vagus Nerve.
